According to Cloudflare Radar, who calculates websites’ popularity, Google has officially been knocked down from the number one spot. Even though Microsoft cleverly has its own search engine, Bing, as the default home page and search tool for anyone using the Edge browser, it was not the one that usurped Google.
Interestingly, the most searched term on Bing happens to be “Google,” so we’re not sure if their plan has backfired on them or not. However, Google still has a vast array of its own services that many users rely on daily, including Maps, Photos, Translate, Flights, News, and more. Despite this all, in the year 2021, Google managed to fall to second place. First, let’s take a look at how things stood in the year 2020:
1) Google.com
2) Facebook.com
3) Microsoft.com
4) Apple.com
5) Netflix.com*
6) Amazon.com
7) TikTok.com
8) YouTube.com
9) Instagram.com
10) Twitter.com
So who could have possibly dethroned Google in 2021? If you guessed TikTok, then you are absolutely correct. Here’s how the list changed in just one year:
1) TikTok.com
2) Google.com
3) Facebook.com
4) Microsoft.com
5) Apple.com
6) Amazon.com
7) Netflix.com
8) YouTube.com
9) Twitter.com
10) WhatsApp.com
TikTok first overtook Google on February 17th, 2021, but it was only for a day. Then in March, it once again started closing in on Google, and then from August 10th and on, it remained in the number one spot.
It was overtaken Facebook as the most favored social media platform when it comes to traffic, however Facebook still has the most users around the world of any social media platform.
