Elizabeth Taylor’s passion for jewelry was almost as well known as her tumultuous relationship with Richard Burton. In 1968, Burton purchased the Krupp diamond for her, and she had it set into a ring. The ring was worn by Taylor frequently, and although she and Burton had been married already when he gave it to her, it didn’t stop most people from referring to it as her engagement ring. The diamond was even renamed the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond, and was later sold by her estate for $8.8 million.
