October Wedding Season
In many Amish communities, October brings in the beginning of wedding season, as it is after the harvest season, and in itself is quite a festive time in general. Weddings mark young adults’ passage into adulthood. Wedding ceremonies are very important in the Amish tradition as they symbolize the growth of the community. Most weddings are held on either Tuesdays or Thursdays, and they bring the entire community together in celebration.

No Alcohol Or Smoking?
The consumption of alcohol varies across different Amish communities. Within the New Order Amish, alcohol, smoking, and bed courtship are all completely forbidden. However, within Old Order communities, it is not as cut and dry. What is clear is that drinking culture is not common within any Amish communities.
