First Lady Jackie Kennedy started a tradition in 1961 that involves Christmas tree themes. This tradition continues until today. The first Christmas tree theme was Tchaikovsky’s ‘Nutcracker’ and was introduced during her husband’s first year in office. Other themes have included ‘Antique Toy’ and ‘American Flower Tree.’
