René and Céline actually renovated a golf club in Quebec, and also sent the club a generous donation to help them to continue operating. The couple also helped to promote the club, with a statement of theirs published on the club’s website to help draw business to it.

Part of the funding René was able to provide by mortgaging his house went to paying Eddy Marnay, the famous French lyricist, to work with Céline on her album. René was known for being a serious high-stakes gambler in his life, and took many chances to support Céline’s career.
