GLAAD was founded in 1985, and this non-governmental media works with associations and members of the media world to ensure transparency and accountability in reporting matters of the LGBTQ community to the public. One of the significant media representations that GLAAD has advocated for and against was the AIDS coverage and breakout in the community.
