American Beauty (1999)
American Beauty features main character Lester and his growing infatuation with a high school cheerleader, who is played by Mena Suvari. In the scene in which she is dancing and he’s watching from the bleachers, she is the focus of his attention and also the spotlight, and everything else fades to black. The powerful scene caught many viewers’ attention as a film-defining one.

Cruel Intentions is yet another coming of age film, but albeit with a bit of a darker tone. One scene in particular had audience clamoring for the pause button. In the scene, Kathryn, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, teaches the much less experienced Kathryn, played by Selma Blair, how to kiss.
